I tell ALL my customers, I’m a tea grower, not necessarily a tea maker. Making your own tea is like baking cookies. Everybody has a method and a madness and the result you get is directly related to what you put in it. I can make pretty good cookies, I’ve been told, and every year at the holidays all my family looks forward to ‘Nana’s Sugar Cookies’. I have perfected the recipe that at least everyone in my family likes. Will my cookies every win any awards? Doubtful. Neither will my tea. But I have prepared a product that I like. It doesn’t matter if it’s prim and proper as long as I and my family like it.
So here’s the condensed GREEN TEA Steamed Recipe. You will have to experiment to come up with something that is satisfying to you! Remember, what you put in is what you get out!
BASIC GREEN TEA – STEAMED METHOD
Fresh tea leaves are set out in the shade to wither for 3-4 hours
